You'll find the Oklahoma State Fair in the State Fair Park of Oklahoma City each year during mid-September. The fairgrounds are over 435 acres and one of the largest fairgrounds in the United States. The fair features fun and activities for all ages and types of people. There are Duck Races, a rodeo, a lumberjack show, Percheron Draft Horses, Plains Indian Dances, and for the car and truck lovers, a truck and tractor pull, motorcross, monster trucks and a demolition derby. Oklahoma State Fair has Too Many Events to NameThe PRCA Championship Rodeo fills the Oklahoma State Fair Arena with fans who want to see the extreme bullriding for two hours. Later over the course of 3 nights fans can watch the Championship Rodeo Competition with timed-events and riders all competing for the big money. For some good fun head over to the Great American Duck Race of New Mexico and get a chance to participate. Yep, members of the audience will be educated on ducks and several audience members will get to pick their own ducks to release at the start of the races. Those who picked winning ducks will get a prize. Kids will also enjoy visiting Hedrick's petting zoo with a variety of animals and pony and camel rides. Get a load of some fast wood cutting action at the Lumberjack shows. Visitors at the fair can see some of the country's fastest lumberjacks compete against each other and the clock in chainsaw carving, logrolling, speed cutting, and ax throwing. Do you know that the average Percheron Draft Horse weighs about 2,000 pounds? That's almost a ton, and visitors will experience a ton of excitement when they come to see these draft horses making their entrance. The horses will be hitched up in an unforgettable team of thundering hoofs that races around the track. Other events such as the Truck and Tractor Pull, Motorcross, Demolition Derby and the Monster Truck Nationals are usually held in the Grandstands and cost an extra entrance fee. |
