Our Guide To Perilla Oil

Perilla oil, hailing from the seeds of the Perilla frutescens plant which is found in China, India, and Japan, is an excellent source of Omega 3 fatty acids. Oil that comes from the Perilla plant contains copious amounts of a substance known as Alpha Linolenic Acid, or ALA. ALA is one of the several types of Omega 3 fatty acids, a key nutrient to the human body.

Two of the most prominent Omega 3 fatty acids on the market are EPA and DHA, which can be found in the bodies of fish. However, since fish have been living in a polluted environment, many people prefer getting their Omega 3s from a fish oil supplement. The Perilla plant is one of the best-known plants for producing ALA. The great news is that ALA is changed into EPA and DHA inside the body, allowing you to get all the nutrition youd get from fish oil! However, many scientists have battled this idea, saying that the production of EPA and DHA from the ALA takes place in limited quantities, if at all. For that reason, many scientists recommend simply, a fish oil supplement as opposed to Perilla oil. Thats not to say that Perilla oil does not have its own benefits. For instance, it may reduce inflammation of the blood, which is known as a leading cause of cardiovascular disease. It also may suppress early colon cancer, and inhibit blood clots from forming.

Acting as a blood thinner and anti-coagulant is another of the possible benefits of Perilla oil. If you are already on a blood thinner, it is best to talk to a doctor before beginning a Perilla oil supplement regimen. The blood thinners may counteract with each other and have bad results on your health. Now that you know more about Perilla oil, you can decide if its for you or not!
